Alexandre Benoît-Gonin is a French brand of Lyon jeweler-watchmaker who started manufacturing motorcycles in 1907. Tried to gain fame through racing but stopped motorcycle production already in 1924 and continued as a jeweler-watchmaker.
His engine blocks were always bought and for this he used first Givaudan later 700cc V-twin Zedel blocks and after the first world war Anzani and MAG blocks. This rare Anzani 250cc OHV block sits in a very light frame for racing.
Alessandro Anzani was an Italian motorcycle racer and constructor from Milan. In 1930 he moved to France and with his prize money he started a company to build motorcycle engines. Among other things, he was the first to break the record of 100km/h in Ostend and challenged by Jan Olieslagers (Minerva) to set the record at 110km/h. He worked mainly on commission for motorcycle and aircraft manufacturers such as Blériot and many others.
Motorcycle is fully restored and ready to start up. Motorcycle has been in a French private museum for years after restoration.
