After the period of the plate frame at BMW (R11-16 and R12-17), BMW comes out with a new 500cc OHV sport motorcycle. The R5 with a tubular frame, telescopic fork and a very fast engine. This was a top-of-the-line model from BMW.

This motorcycle here is a rare early model with dual carburetor. Motorcycle is completely original and is a top restoration.
