In 1933, BMW built and concept/prototype of their new model with telescopic fork. This was the model R7, the successor to the R16 which still had a leaf spring in the front fork. This new model that looked very futuristic was exhibited in several places but later BMW decided to release a model anyway that was more in line with the previous models and this became the famous R17. The bodywork of this R7 was made in Italy by the famous coachbuilders of the expensive Italian cars. After cancellation of this model by BMW, one of the Italian employees was not happy because he would have liked to buy this model. As a result, he himself built a 2 the based on an R17.
