Brough Superior

MKI

Sporty Brough Superior.

Brough Superior model MKI. This is a 1000cc SV sport model of 1926. After this model came the SS80 and SS100, these had a closed frame under the engine. The use of the MKI frame ended in about 1925 but is still used for a while longer for the racing motorcycles because the later frames were much heavier. The MKI frame usually had the older models web front forks but this one already has the new and better Castle front fork. The engine is a JAP 1000cc sport engine with big valves (45mm). On the pictures you can see that there is an AMAL double float chamber mounted on which this one runs very well but now there is a Binks mousetrap race carburetor on which this one also runs very well. Amal is easy to use and Binks is much nicer and more special but a bit harder to use. At purchase you can choose which one you want. This model of Brough Superior is still the nice model I think with the heel straps, Bonniksen speedo and narrow tank with oil pump and dripper.
