150cc

Nice original.

Adolphe Clément was born in 1855 and was orphaned at a young age. He was passionate about mechanics and went to work for the village blacksmith at an early age. He managed to build a simple bicycle in wood. At the age of 17 he left the village on this wooden bicycle in search of fortune. In 1876 he began to participate in bicycle races and state the manufacture of bicycles. In 1880 he moved to Paris and started his company under the name Clement. He had immediate success and it was not long before he employed 150 workers. In 1889 he attended the Cycle exhibition in London and was at the presentation of those new Dunlop Pneumatic tyres. He managed to get the manufacturing rights for France and soon became a millionaire. From 1895 he was focused on motorized vehicles, first tricycles and quadricycles and cars and in 1902 he started in motorized bicycles. First a 142cc (later more cc) small engine with atmospheric intake and OHV exhaust and external flywheel. This was for sale complete as a motorcycle or as a kit to build on a bicycle. Later Clement made a great collaboration between Clement - Gladiator and Humber.

The Clement offered here is a 1903 150cc in original unrestored condition. Engine has compression and is loose.
