The US Army bought many bicycles for the First World War in Europe. One of the suppliers was Columbia. They made a sturdy (double top tube) bicycle that was mainly used for dispatch riders and by the staff. Because of its great success, these bicycles were also sold after the war to the people in America and they used the army pictures to prove their soundness.

This bike also has the original saddle with USA army stamp in the leather.
