Beautiful restoration of an American Henderson De Luxe. This is a 1300cc 4 cylinder of 1925.
Engine and gearbox were overhauled by a specialist and this engine runs very well.
More photos and videos in the next few days.
Henderson started in 1912 with the 4 cylinder. In 1913 they became known for an advertising stunt by Carl Stevens Clancy, who was the first person to drive one of these Henderson motorcycles around the world. The basis of success was laid. In 1917, the company was taken over by Ignaz Schwinn. Owner of many brands such as Excelsior. This is why the Henderson logo got a big X from Excelsior. The Henderson brothers left the firm and started Ace. That same year, a Henderson broke Cannonball Baker's cross-country record, which had stood for a long time, by 4 days. The success grew further, even Henry Ford bought one. In 1922 it was voted the best police motorbike. With its 28PK this motorbike had no problem to reach the 100 miles/h (160km/h). This was faster than most cars at that time. After the stock market crash in 1929, Ignaz Schwinn decided to close the factory in 1931.
