Meyer?

High bi

First model High Bi!

To go faster like a Velocipede, they had to enlarge the wheel and thus the High Bi was born. The French Eugène Meyer and the English James Starley both qualify to be the father of the High Bi. Meyer took credit for patenting large wheels with iron spokes instead of wooden wheels in 1869. Starley did not apply for a patent for the High Bi until 1970. The large wheel was needed to increase speed because the bottom bracket was fixed to the wheel axle. That is, 1 revolution of the pedals is 1 revolution of the wheel. Faster riding was only possible through larger wheels but leg length was the limitation of this.

The High Bi offered here is a transitional model from Velocipede to High Bi. This one still has all the features of Velocipede namely the full frame, bearings wheels can be lubricated in bronze with a Meyer nipple, brake on rear wheel, straight handlebars and Meyer triangular rims,...

Completely original and never restored early model.
