In 1912, the fastest motorcycle at Indian was a 1000cc OHV for the public because the 4 and 8 valve factory racers were not for sale. Despite being listed in the sales brochure, they were not sold but only loaned to the factory racers and promising racers. The general public had to make do with some tuning and possibly another carburetor. There were some very resourceful private racers who had found the idea to fit their OHV with a Pope cylinder head. Pope was about the only OHV for sale at that time is USA. This also gave them an OHV that was faster than the regular models. Only a few may have been built of this conversion so this is a very rare appearance. This motorcycle is also equipped with a clutch so it is easy to use.
Motorcycle is back in working order and is in running condition.
