1924 French Monet Goyon Type Z Grand Prix. It features the famous and rare Villiers 175cc Sports engine, with which Monet Goyon broke 23 world records. First came this Sports engine, then the Super Sport, then the Super Sport TT engine, and finally the Brooklands TT engine. Villiers had trouble promoting this fast English engine because the records had been set by a French rider on a French bicycle frame at a French circuit. As a result, Villiers further improved the Super Sport TT engine, mounted it on a lightweight Francis Barnet bicycle frame, began racing at the Brooklands circuit, and broke the record once again. Now they were satisfied because their English engine was in an English motorcycle frame, and the record had also been broken by an English rider on an English circuit.

So this is one of those early racing models that differs from the standard track model due to its racing handlebars, the additional friction dampers next to the front fork, the rare expansion exhausts (known as “Haricot” exhausts in French), and the large Amac 15MDY racing carburetor. These modifications can also be seen in the original photos of the factory riders Louis Janin, Albert SOURDOT, HOMMAIRE, and GAUSSORGUES.
