French Peugeot P135 Grand Sport. This is a 350cc OHV with hairpin springs, high compression piston and enlarged crankcase with 2 liters of extra oil. In the 30's there was a search in France for faster engines, engines with "Grande Puissance" because of the many competitions for motorcycles. Peugeot therefore brought out an improved version of the P117. This was the P135. A fast motorcycle of which one could buy a very fast version, the Grand Sport. These had an enlarged crankcase that ran up to the rear mudguard. This meant that there was 2 liters more oil in the engine for better lubrication and cooling. They also had a bulbous piston for more compression and to run on alcohol when racing. These engines also had the hairpin springs to control the valves. This model as offered here was faster than the standard 500cc OHV. The high exhausts as on this one was an option. In total there are between 1936-1940 1080 P135 made of which only a small part was this Grand Sport version with larger engine. The machine offered here has been completely overhauled.
