Velocette LE 200 Vogue. This is a 200cc 4 stroke side valve boxer engine with water cooling and shaft drive, not the cheapest construction but very special. The English motorcycle brand started building the model LE, which means Little Engine, in 1948 and they made this model until the end of their existence in 1971. The Le was very much used by the English police forces. In 1961 the boss of Velocette decides that the model LE needs an update. The basic model is made rather bare and very basic. For this, a new frame with fiberglass body comes. The new model "Vogue" was presented at the Earls Court Show in 1962. Due to the high price, low power (200cc) and because the market was not ready for such a futuristic model, sales were very disappointing. There are only about 380 pieces made what means a production of 1.5 motorcycles per week. The reason they continued to make this model until 1968 is because the engine and gearbox were already in production for the police models.
This motorcycle is a barn find, engine is loose and it is pretty much complete. Very nice basis for restoration.
