Zundapp

KS600 racer

Ex. Kurt Nitschky

German Zundapp KS600 racer. Originally, this motorbike came from Kurt Nitschky, a very famous promising German racer who died too early (34 years of age) of a heart attack. Before the war, at the age of 19, his racing achievements were already remarkable. He had a successful career as a racer and as a dealer of several major German makes. Shortly after the war, the garage employed more than 25 people.

After this, the motorbike has been in the possession of 2 big German collectors. Last year it was completely restored and brought back in perfect running condition.

Almost nothing is standard on this KS600.

  • The frame used to be sealed on the inside to make it stiffer and stronger. To do this, holes were made in the frame to reduce the added weight. This used to be done by several brands with pressed frames for racing.
  • Front fork is widened for the larger brakes.
  • Large special cooled brakes.
  • Crankshaft is special race crankshaft (see photo left original right one in this motorbike.
  • Special longer connecting rods.
  • High compression pistons (1/10).
  • 750cc cylinder heads for the larger valves.
  • Cylinder heads converted to twin spark (top and bottom spark plugs).
  • Drive sprockets replaced with large and sturdy metal ones.
  • Special gearbox with sport ratios.
  • Special rear drive with sport ratio.
  • Large dual sports carburettors.
  • Now converted to 12 volts.
  • Electronic ignition.
  • ...
